I bought this when my puppy was 15 pounds. She’s now over 20 pounds, and the small size still fits. I will definitely upgrade to the medium size when necessary. I tried 3 other car restraints on my dog before finding this one. I think both the dog and I love this product. It’s easy to put on, easy to install, and easy to wear for her. I strap it to the shoulder belt in the back/middle seat so she has a great view of the entire car. She can move around freely, but cannot jump up to the front seat. Very good value!

After trying this product out on a four day trip I am going to garage sale it. It was too warm for my Pomeranian and it allowed her to jump to the floor of the car where she hung suspended. It would probably be fine for a different breed but I have gone back to the crate.

Finally, I can take my 15 pound terrier mix on trips knowing she is secured safely. Solvit did solve my problems. Until now, Annie wandered from front to back – window to window… I worried that if I were in a collision, and the airbag deployed, she might be seriously injured – or even killed. The Solvit harness works like a charm. It is sturdy and it gives padded protection to Annie’s chest and tummy. The only fault I can see is that a dog smaller than 15 pounds might be too small for this harness. (I have it about as small as it can be adjusted).

I bought this for our new pup who is now around 13 lbs. The harness is a little loose but not dangerously so and it works well. It is easy to attach and very sturdy. The most important parts – the caribiner that attaches to the seat belt and the clip that attaches to the harness on the dog – are made of metal to add to its strength. The padding also makes it more comfortable for the dog.
I can see where this harness may be too small for a dog under 10 lbs though. At that size, I’d probably use one of the harnesses that also have a booster seat.

Had my 15 week old mini Aussie a few weeks and was already tired of forcing him in the crate for car travel. Having tried another brand of harness at a much lower price point that was not designed well or secure, I assumed we would have to suffer until he was old enough to be trusted unrestrained. Then, I saw this product. Having purchased another Solvit product before, thought I would give it a try. It’s great; easy to adjust for a perfect fit, take on and off, seems comfortable, is well made, and keeps my puppy very secure in the back seat while allowing him room to move a bit and lay down. Easily works with my Honda CRV middle seat belt and once I adjusted it half way, no chance of him falling off (not sure about the other reviews in various sizes saying their dogs were hanging off the seat – think its operator error). Amazon had the best price for this size. Since things I live often “disappear” just bought the next size (saved a bit more on EBay) since his final weight will be 35 to 40 pounds!
