I’ve tried many cage bird baths that my birds just didn’t like. Especially the kind where you open the door and place the roofed bath in the opening. Ignore! Ignore! says my Senegal parrot. My canary too!
My parrot took to this one right away and got very excited about it. Up to now, I could only get him to bathe in his water bowl. Afterwards, I’d have to clean it right away. Now he’s looking very nifty and clean. I change the water about once every three days. That’s easy to do too. All you do it twist the container, lift it out, clean it (I put it in the top rack of the dishwasher), refill it with water (I use filtered), then insert it back in the cage in its holder.
The circular container is about 5 inches in diameter. It fits into a holder which you screw tightly from the outside of the cage. His cage has vertical bars. But because of the movable rectangular plastic piece the screw fits into to hold it to the container, it seems to me it would fit well with horizontal bars too. The entire piece is a light translucent turquoise. And it’s strong and very well made.
I tried another bird bath resembling a bathtub for my canary which is placed on the bottom of the cage. It was also very well made and probably would do for a very, very large cage. But it got too many droppings in the bath water to be satisfactory. So now I’m going to order this Lixit bath for him as well. Don’t want him to feel like he’s left out.

I ordered and quickly received the Lixit Quick Lock Plastic Bird Bath a few weeks ago. It was very easy to assemble and easy to attach to the cage. It has a deep enough well for water and it is big enough for my parakeets to bathe in with “glee”. It is a good product, well made and inexpensive.

Our little snegal parrot hates being misted. But with his own little bath tub attached to his cage he can dive in and bath any time he wants.

I have tried many of the different baths out there, but my conure has ignored them all. I’ve been resorting to the kitchen sink, and even then, there’s fighting and I have to sprinkle water onto him (he won’t just bath in it himself). I would notice him taking baths in his water bowl, but he still wouldn’t like it if I gave him something else to bathe in. His water would not only ended up dirty (and I wasn’t always around to change it right away), but the dish was also fairly small, and he would sometimes fall in it (imagine that picture). I ordered this bath, and as soon as I put it in his cage, he knew exactly what to do. I have a happy and CLEAN conure now.
