  1. i am hoping it will be good but so far the weather has been too warm for me to assess the product. I hope it will work when the temperature drops below freezing.

  2. This is a good product. But inorder to conserve energy use it only when it is freezing cold and there is no snow on the ground. Birds actually can eat snow , so they have no need for de-iced water when there is snow available. Also keep in mind that when you do use a de-icer you should put rocks in the bird bath so that birds do not actually bathe when the weather is freezing cold. They should only be able to sip water when it is below freezing outside. This product is fairly energy efficient, using only 50 watts. I believe it is programed to turn off when the temperature of the water rises so it it should not be expensive to run.

This product works amazingly well! It has been below zero all winter and yet the bird bath remains unfrozen. I couldn’t be more impressed or any happier with this purchase.

This replaces a foil type birdbath heater that we had for about 2 years. While it was more expensive than our first, it seems much sturdier and better made. It is quite heavy, but we still use a rock to anchor it in the bath. It doesn’t thaw all the water in the bird bath, but a good portion of it. It’s our first winter using this, so we will see how well it holds up to the Midwest winter.
