I do not know for I never got it. The company was totally unresponsive. I would never buy from this place.

I use this filter in a 10-gallon tank for my turtles, and am so glad I did. I used to have a Duetto filter similar to this one, but the turtle food kept getting sucked into the filter and gunking up all the internal parts, which included two sponges, a charcoal cartridge and three plastic parts that made up the filter cage.
This filter, not counting suction cups, has four parts: a motor unit, a sponge, and a two-part plastic casing that contains the sponge and attaches to the motor unit. That means there is only one part that needs replacing – the sponge – instead of three in the Duetto. It is also very easy to disassemble and clean, taking roughly one-quarter of the time of any other filter I have used.
Just one word of caution – this is a small filter. I would not use it in even a mid-sized aquarium, but for small aquariums this is one of the best filters out there.

I’ve tried a lot of different filters over the years for my turtles, but never quite had the right one. Turtles only use up half of the tank space with water so this is a challenge for keepers. Some companies have addressed this problem, but when I first got my painted turtle he was as small as a quarter and I was afraid he would get caught in one of those filters. So I bought the fluval underwater filter and it has worked perfectly for the last 3 years! And turtles are about 10 times dirtier than fish (not to mention there are two cory cats that live in the tank and a number of guppies or goldfish)The filter keeps the tank very clean. I do have to clean filter regularlly about twice a month, but again turtles are messy. The filter does let me know when it needs to be cleaned, because it will make a sound, otherwise it is super quiet. The filter is very easy to clean I take out the sponge (which can be replaced), but I usually just clean it out and rinse the filter. I just put my turtle into a 25 gallon and tank, so I will be getting a larger fluval to clean that one, but to recap it’s quiet and works great, I have yet to find a better filter!

I’ve ordered from Petsolutions several times and they always been top notch. I’m using this Fluval 1 for my sump filtration. I have a 150 gallon aquarium with a sump filter. The area where the water collects at the sump pump (just prior to being pumped back into the aquarium) tends to get sediment which accumulates. This is the perfect solution. It gently aerates that sump area so now it’s crystal clear. I know it’s kind of wierd to have a small filter for my sump pump which is quite a powerful filter system, but it really does exactly what I thought it would do and keeps that area of the sump from accumulating crud. It’s great!!! (algae, debris or whatever it is)
